our school is an independent Charter School be we became an independent Charter School in 2003 prior to that we were part of LAUSD our main goal here is to Vidor students with a quality education so that they can be successful when they go to middle school high school and then College and Career 95% of our kids are Latino Or Hispanic and 4% are black or African American and the 1% left is that other ethnicity 90% of our kids are economically disadvantaged so we are one of those schools at the 90% that are free or reduced lunch I'm there's a lot of practices that I think I'm contribute to our school Success but I think the main one is the highly qualified staff our teachers are paraprofessionals our support Personnel they're all highly qualified and I'm in the most important thing is that they are very dedicated most of the people here are from this community and they simply care about the children the families so I think that's one of our major strength is that that they are the weak are and when vested in this community my teacher said they help they help us out a lot and they worry about it really good way of teaching students as a good with educating I have a nice safe rules for everyone to follow IMD technology integration start trouble, charter school and I teach robotics team-based is Project based its Hands On Learning the kids absolutely loved it they learn coding 3D design I also helped run a couple of clubs including the Wildcat News Network the ideas to report a news in the school and in the community I enjoy robotics the most because in robotics you get to build and learn about technology and all this other stuff with helping the Earth and space and when I grow up I want to be an engineer for NASA so that really helps you poop cuz I get to Salem moose everybody I got to write stories and I get to pick you up hello Mimi cooking classes provide all organic produce for them we try to show them different aspects of the of the corner if you don't expose them to different things that are you still at home that's our main goal here at this early stage and in their in their life they just need to be exposed to different things for when they grow up they can be accustomed to the more option especially on low-income areas where there they might have the option at home are providing them a full breakfast and Trish is best in the morning gives them energy that they need to move on to the day and focus on their classrooms through their their projects and not have to worry about that throughout the day so they're not your stomach is not hurting their and I can focus on on on their learning projects in our program we do to the ring with lightning Squad and our Intervention Program focuses on helping students that are below grade level and if they are reading at grade level we help them attain their reading level as well so in our classroom we do 30 minutes of reading tutoring tutors in here also do I activate and in our tutoring group we are hoping that they can reach grade level by the end of the quarter because I seen the difference between LUSD and a tartar and I just stay in that the ones I were coming here to Pacoima Charter or help more and were more their grade level than the one until you see Charter has a doctor on site everyday a nurse on site everyday they have counselors where I could talk to I have my son that's in second grade and he was in first grade level now he's up to 3rd grade up with. Them up reach their goals with her supposed to be I feel like the school bring students are gifted it's a good environment and a feeling of you know like that they belong here
